Chapter Report by Teresita Marasigan 2004 - 2006 president
Spring 2006
1. UNIFY FILIPINO-AMERICAN NURSES IN THE USA AND ITS TERRITORIES.
• PNA Ohio is currently updating its Directory of Filipino Nurses here in Ohio. Members of the
executive board are given a designated number of nurses to call and to update them regarding
events and activities of PNAA and PNA Ohio.
• Delegates Cecilia Estrella and Teresita Marasigan attended the 5th International Nursing
Conference in Hawaii January 25-27 2006. With the theme of “Global Partnership for a Preferred
Future in Healthcare”, the conference was truly a unifying event for Filipino-American nurses
internationally.
• Networking with Nursing Alumni Associations is encouraged by attendance of class reunions.
• PNAO is collaborating with the Philippine American Ministry with a monthly mass with and for
the nurses. Different facility groups are scheduled to be “sponsors”: to do readings, offerings,
singing, and after mass social.
• Holiday get-togethers are fun events not only for the Filipino nurses but for family and friends.
2. DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT AND EVALUATE PROGRAMS IN NURSING LEADERSHIP, PRACTICE,
EDUCATION, AND RESEARCH RELEVANT TO PROFESSIONAL GROWTH OF its MEMBERS AND
HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY.
• Fundraising efforts for the PNAO Scholarship program were very rewarding especially with
the generous contribution of our board member Manivic Cancelliere and member Amy Gatha.
Scholarship awards will be given to two qualified nursing students during our Induction and
Anniversary Ball on September 30, 2006.
• The Education Committee headed by Alicia Tupaz is planning the CEU programs for 2006.
The programs will be offered free to all paid members with CEU’s through the Ohio League of
Nursing. Alice is actively pursuing the processing of CEU Providership for PNAO and Lilian Palanca
is helping her.
• Attendees to the Chapter Leadership development program at the PNAA National
Convention in Kansas City were President Teresita C. Marasigan and President-elect Bessie Schiroky.

USA THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE USA AND THE
